Porsche’s fast 917 went head to head with Ferrari’s new 512S. Prototypes from Alfa Romeo, Matra, Ligier and Chevron battled for class wins ahead of a gaggle of Porsche 911s. At the front, the Ferrari challenge faded and the Porsche 917K of Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood won ahead of the sister car of Gérard Larrousse/Willi Kauhsen and the 908 of Helmut Marko/Rudi Lins.
