Lotus 18, chassis #912, driven to victory by Stirling Moss in the 1961 Monaco GP

It is rare to find a car that is more famous with parts of its bodywork removed but when Stirling Moss won the 1961 Monaco Grand Prix in a Coventry-Climax 1.5-litre four cylinder Lotus 18, he did so without side panels. Driving chassis number 912, he held off a trio of new, more powerful ‘shark-nose’ Ferraris driven by Ginther, Hill and von Trips. Against the odds, he also won at the Nürburgring later that year, underscoring his driving genius and cementing the legacy of the little Lotus 18.
