'would make a great stocking filler.'
Retro-Speed Magazine, November 28, 2018
'Crackpot children's story, that we can all enjoy.
' just £6.99, great value from upmarket publisher Porter Press International. Grab a bargain as they say.'
Wheels Alive, September 2018
'When I was a lad I used to love reading, as well as being interested in motor cars, and I was always excited to find books that heavily involved cars and motoring within their pages. Well, fast forward a few decades and I have just found another one that I very much enjoyed reading!'
In a first for Porter Press, well-known and respected for comprehensive classic Jaguar titles, the firm has published its first ever children's book.'
A delightful, well-written book which would appeal to any young enthusiast interested in cars, especially classics. t would make a great stocking filler for Christmas or indeed would be a welcome present at any time, and at £6.99 it represents good value I feel.'
I thoroughly enjoyed the book (indeed it also took e back in my mind as it was just the story I would have enjoyed reading when I was young!).'
The Bulletin of the Vintage Sports-Car Club, Autumn 2018
'This endearing little book is a new venture for Porter Press, the first in what is intended to be a range of motoring books for children but leaves the reviewer thinking that, just like The Wind in the Willows, any parent or grandparent who buys this as a Christmas present will end up reading it from cover to cover.
'The book is entertaining and sensibly priced making it, in the modern idiom, a no-brainer. The illustrations are delightful and care has been taken to make them accurate with some surprising details, including a squadron of Gloster Meteors flying over the coronation celebrations.
'Buy a copy and read to your next generation Vintagents; it will entertain reader and listener alike but be prepared to buy future volumes including "The XK Files: 140" coming soon - why change a successful formula, it works for their Great Car Series so why not for childrens' books?'
Over 40 and a Mum to One, July 2, 2018
'The XK Files: 120 is a great read and my son and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it together. More confident readers would have no issue with reading this book independently. Readers will enjoy the adventure and also the historical references throughout this chapter book. This is the first in a series of books and we are now eagerly awaiting The XK Files: 140.'
