Get the wheels in line

I saw the offer to purchase The Self Preservation Society by Matthew Field and have always been a massive fan of The Italian Job. I previously had a book on the history of the film but never one that so was well researched, so involved and so in-depth when it came to the ideas, the script, the writer, the director, the actors and everything involved. I got really immersed in just looking through the book the first couple of times and with Matt Monro's On Days Like These and other songs from the film playing in my head. Thoroughly recommended for any dedicated fan of Michael Caine or The Italian Job and I look forward to reading it in full.

The Self Preservation Society

A long-term Italian Job fan, this book ticks a lot of boxes I needed to be ticked, and a lot of boxes I didn't know I wanted ticked but I am very glad indeed that the book ticks. Dedication and affection permeates the book. Really good.

Exceptionally well written

This book is a fantastically detailed account of every aspect concerning this iconic film. I learnt many very interesting facts about the making of the film that I did not know previously. Although highly detailed, the book is written in a highly entertaining and easy to read manner. The photography, engaging narrative and excellent design of the book are a real credit to Matthew Field and Porter Press.
