The Le Mans Model Collection – 1983

Of the 51 starters, no fewer than 40 were Group C cars, including 12 Porsche 956s and eight various Rondeau models. One of the Martini-Lancia 2.6-litre LC2s was third quickest in qualifying but all the works cars were out before halfway. The Rothman-Porsche works cars finished 1-2. Mazda’s rotary-engined car took first place in Group C Junior. The grid also included examples of Ford C100, Sauber, Emka, Dome, Nimrod, Lola, BMW M1, six Porsche 930s and lone 928 S.
