McLaren F1 30th Anniversary Tour
Villa Feltrinelli 2022
Remarkably, the McLaren F1 becomes ever more iconic as the years go by. For its 30th Anniversary at Villa Feltrinelli we were fortunate to have 13 cars in attendance, of which seven were road cars and six were competition cars.
Honoured guest Gordon Murray presented his GMA T.50 to the McLaren F1 owners on what was its first ever event on public roads. That the F1 and T.50 share a bloodline is very clear, despite wearing different badges and being separated by almost 30 years.
Gordon has always said he designed his F1 to be the ultimate driving machine and so, as with our previous anniversary events, the emphasis of this tour, apart from the sheer luxury of it all, was on the driving. That is, after all, the principal reason why we started the McLaren F1 Owners Club exactly 10 years ago: to curate unmissable driving experiences for owners of the world’s greatest supercar.
Based again in Gargnano on the western edge of Lake Garda, the event visited Chalet Fiat high in the Brenta Dolomites above the ski resort village of Madonna di Campiglio as well as the extraordinary Villa Della Torre, home to the Allegrini family vineyards.
The event also witnessed the reunion of the Gulf GTC Competition team cars, chassis #12R and #15R. Seeing them together again for the first time since 1996 was rather poignant as chassis #12R won the BPR Global GT Endurance Championship that year, 26 years ago.
We’d like to say a very special thank you to the following: the owners, for joining us and bringing your cars along; to Gordon Murray, for bringing your T.50; to Villa Feltrinelli, for hosting the event at the most romantic hotel in Europe; and to Lanzante Ltd, for supporting the event technically.
We are looking forward to the next anniversary
