BMW V12 LMR
1999 Le Mans 24 Hours: After a less than auspicious effort in the 1998 race with its V12 LM, BMW redesigned the car for 1999. Renamed V12 LMR, the new prototype racer was simpler, with better cooling, more effective aerodynamics and on-brand styling by Peter Stevens. Brilliantly efficient and reliable, car no. 15, driven by Joachim Winkelhock, Pierluigi Martini and Yannick Dalmas, won the race, finishing a lap ahead of the no. 3 Toyota GT-One.
