Book signings at XK70
The XK70 Jaguar Festival brought together Jaguar and general classic car enthusiasts on a blistering hot weekend at the venerable Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb. The air was filled with a heady mix of aromas and sounds from petrol and hot rubber to roaring engines, jazz and gleeful ‘ooohs’ as another classic squealed around the bends.
We were delighted to channel some of that enthusiasm on the Porter Press stand, where a number of author signings took place throughout the weekend.
On the Saturday, Sir John Egan joined us to sign copies of the new softback edition of his best-selling “Saving Jaguar” – the story of how, as new chairman, he brought Jaguar back from the brink. Politics, business and personalities form the basis of this fascinating memoir.
Sir John’s afternoon session was particularly popular, as it followed on from his extremely well-received theatre session. The applause could be heard across the site, and the queues formed at the stand immediately afterwards!
The XK70 Festival saw the launch of a brand-new venture for us – our first children’s book. Penned by our very own Jennifer Barker, “The XK Files: 120” is a time-travelling mystery, featuring a small boy, his grandpa, and a very animated
XK! With wonderful period-style illustrations by Robin Lawrie, this is a wonderful adventure for 8-12-year-olds.
Jennifer and Robin were both on hand during the weekend, signing copies for a very enthusiastic audience of youngsters, not to mention fans from a slightly older age range!
