Maserati’s most successful Grand Prix car, the 250F, was campaigned in its various evolutionary guises throughout the 2½-litre front-engined Formula 1 era of 1954–1960, winning Championship events on 8 occasions. Three lightweight versions were built and raced in 1957, with Juan Manuel Fangio winning the last of his five World Championship titles. Chassis 2528, photographed here, was driven to victory by Fangio at the Monaco Grand Prix.
